100 Fijian workers are expected to leave for employment in Australia as Whales Regional Workforce is in the country to recruit more Fijian workers.

Since their first visit to Fiji in January 2022, 500 Fijians are now employed with Whales Regional Workforce, including 40 Fijian workers who have voluntarily joined the Swan Hill Fire Brigade.

Minister for Employment Parveen Bala while meeting with the Managing Directors of the Whales Regional Workforce during the closing of the Pre-Departure Briefing, congratulated the 40 Fijian abattoir workers in joining the local fire brigade in Swan Hill, Victoria as volunteers and becoming certified firefighters.

Bala says the contribution of Fijian workers would have an impact on the state they serve and has also urged other Fijian workers currently in Australia and New Zealand to give back to the respective regions they now call home while away from Fiji.
