If the negatives outweigh the positives, then Fiji will ban social media for children under 16 years after consultation.
This has been highlighted by Minister of Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya.
Tabuya says the Australian Government has taken a bold step to ban social media for those 16 years and under which is a positive move towards monitoring the screen time for our children.
She says the Government of Australia is viewing it at the same level as purchasing alcohol or tobacco.
Tabuya says we need to look at the positive side of social media and where our children are able to engage positively and communicate more.
She emphasizes that these weigh against the negative issues which is excessive screen time that have led to anti-social behaviour.
