We must forgive and reconcile on World Peace Day – Masilomani

As we mark World Peace Day today, retired environmental health worker Semi Masilomani says we must forgive, reconcile and accept in order for the country to be peaceful.

The 56-year-old says that true peace can only be achieved if we live together in harmony; otherwise, racial prejudice will continue.

He agrees that people’s hearts are broken, shaken and affected in some way.

Reflecting on the Trauma Journey and Peacebuilding Workshop at the Pasifika Communities University, Masilomani says he learned how healing can begin, stressing that peace-building for the nation is the first step.

He further says that if we can’t heal ourselves then one can only traumatise a traumatised patient.

Masilomani adds that issues such as drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, break-ins and theft continue to affect communities.

He has urged people to work together to stop them.
