Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Itendra Nair says players must know that they can charge them for using drugs and police will not hesitate to lay charges if players are found positive.
Nair says the Fiji Police Force is working closely with the Fiji Football Association in ensuring a drug-free Courts IDC.
He made these comments while speaking to police officers who will be representing their districts in the Courts IDC.
A number of prominent soccer players such as Simione Tamanisau, Tevita Waranivalu, Akuila Mataisuva, Remueru Takiate, Sahil Dave, Abbu Zahid and Savenaca Nakalevu will be featuring in the IDC.
Nair has urged all police officers who are part of the tournament to be advocates in the ongoing fight against drugs.
The Courts IDC kicks off tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium and can catch the live commentaries of the Suva-Nasinu match at 12.30pm, Ba-Nadi game at 4.30pm and Rewa-Lautoka match at 7pm on our sister station, Radio Sargam.
