We are heavily criticised but we play a very important role in keeping a democratic society and keeping people informed.
These were the sentiments of the Fijian Media Association General Secretary, Stanley Simpson during the launch of the Fijian Press Club and celebration of World Press Freedom Day.
Simpson says journalists do not make everyone happy but everyday they turn up and this is what makes their job very important.
He says journalists go through a lot.

Australia’s Acting High Commissioner to Fiji, Paul Wilson says the Fijian Press Club will create a new platform for journalists to shine the light on important issues, share experiences and grow together. Wilson says the Press Club will provide an opportunity for the media to draw focus on decision makers and influential individuals about their view of the world and what that means for the everyday Fijian.
