Wayne Pivac accepts 25% pay cut with Welsh Rugby Union

Former Flying Fijians and current Wales Coach Wayne Pivac has accepted a 25 % pay cut as part of a Welsh Rugby Union cost-cutting initiative aimed at protecting long-term jobs during the coronavirus crisis.

Stuff.co.nz reported that Pivac and Wales Rugby Union Chief Executive Martyn Phillips are among the senior staff to have their pay slashed by a quarter.

The Scottish Rugby Union has also taken similar action, with Glasgow Warriors coach Dave Rennie joining Scotland's head coach Gregor Townsend, Edinburgh coach Richard Cockerill in taking a 25 percent wage pay cut until August.

SRU chief executive Mark Dodson who earns £933,000 a year will have a 30 percent pay cut.

Pivac was the Fiji 7s coach that won the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens.
