The ongoing water issues at the CWM Hospital are related to internal plumbing, which falls under the responsibility of the hospital itself, the Ministry of Health, and their maintenance team, including in-house plumbers.
This was shared today by the Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau when questioned about the inconsistent water problems disrupting surgeries, dialysis and laboratory test services at CWM Hospital’s Emergency East Wing Building.

Ro Filipe says that based on current findings, the issue does not lie with the Water Authority of Fiji.
He adds that, as a long-term solution, he has instructed WAF to review the previous systems that were in place during the time of the Public Works Department.
Ro Filipe says they are working closely with WAF and looking to find a permanent solution.
WAF’s Chief Executive Officer Seru Soderburg says their Operations Team was immediately deployed to investigate and initial assessments confirmed that water pressure from WAF’s network was within normal operating levels.
He says the hospital’s maintenance team carried out the necessary rectification works on yesterday to ensure continuity of critical health services.
