Wailea resident raises concerns about drug issues raised countless times with Police while COMPOL says official complaint must be lodged

Wailea Settlement Community leader, Inoke Utona says he has raised the issue of drug use and dealing in their area countless times with the authorities but there has still been no response from Police.

However when questioned by fijivillage News, Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says people must lodge an official complaint.

Utona says every time he sees drug activity around, he calls the police and has raised it numerous times in discussions with them as well as their meetings in Nabua.

He says drugs including marijuana and methamphetamine are being openly sold and taken in the area.

Utona is also asking if the Ministry of Youth and Sports or other relevant government departments could help the youth in their area.

The community leader is pleading with the government if they can help their unemployed youth by holding workshops or courses or even set up a small sports ground to keep them occupied and away from drugs.

He says if the youth are not busy engaged with something useful then they will fall into bad habits and pick up on drugs and other things.

Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu says he is urging people to come and lodge their complaints officially at their various police stations.
