A Waila resident is raising concerns about speeding along Princes Road that has caused accidents in the past while Police say their officers have conducted traffic operations in the area but they cannot be static at that one location.

The resident says he almost got into an accident last week because people are driving recklessly and speeding in the area.

He says speed humps and a footpath for the safety of the pedestrians should be constructed, there should be police checkpoints between Dilkusha and Duilomaloma Road and portable speed cameras should also be installed along the way.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro says the Divisional Traffic Officer East has visited the individual on several occasions and they have taken on board concerns raised.

Naisoro is urging drivers to drive within the speed limit and be courteous to other road users.

Meanwhile, Fiji Roads Authority Acting CEO Kamal Prasad says they will consider constructing road humps and footpaths however this will depend on the budget that has been allocated.
