Thousands of people along the Suva to Lami corridor are still without water supply since last night while no time frame has been established by the Water Authority of Fiji on when supply will be restored as they continue to work on affected areas.
WAF Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg says the disruption in water supply is due to a sudden spike in turbidity in the raw water inflow being received at Tamavua Water Treatment Plant yesterday affecting production levels and reservoir levels.
He says no rain was recorded in Suva hence the sudden increase in turbidity levels is attributed to possible heavy rain in the upper catchment of the Waimanu River.
Soderberg says turbidity levels are currently still elevated however production levels is increasing.
Areas still affected include Tamavua Village, Deoji Street, Upper Bureta, Upper Lakeba, parts of Princes Road, Albert Lee, Kikau, Waiqanake, Muaivuso Nabaka, Namakala, Beniveli, and Osonabukete, Jeremaia College, and Savutalele, Forestry Quarters, Crest Chicken, Uluibeka, Vunikawai and Naisogo Sawani Hill.
