Vunivalu eyes return to stake Wallaby case

Vunivalu eyes return to stake Wallaby case
Suliasi Vunivalu is hopeful that he will return for the Queensland Reds

Suliasi Vunivalu is hopeful that he will return for the Queensland Reds as he eyes more silverware and game time to push his Wallabies selection case.

Vunivalu has missed three of the Reds seven wins this season, first because of suspension then a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old is part of the 40-man Wallabies extended squad that is camping in Sydney this week in their preparation for their test match against France in July and then potentially hosting the Rugby Championship later this year.

Vunivalu says it was hard for him to stand in front of his teammates, just being four weeks in the team when the incident happened.

He says regular visits to their attack coach Jim McKay's office have built his confidence and the way he played as a schoolboy in Fiji and New Zealand is quickly coming back to him.

He adds that one more game before the big dance would be good because he would love to play for the Wallabies later this year, but he has to show it at club level to wear that jersey.

The Reds are on a bye this week, so it will give him more time to recover well from his injuries.

In Super Rugby Australia this week, Western Force will face the Waratahs at 9.45pm Saturday while the Rebels will play the Brumbies at 4pm Sunday.
