Ponipate Baleinabau of Votua village in Lekutu, Bua is thankful that no one from his village was injured or died after monstrous Tropical Cyclone Yasa wreaked havoc in the Northern Division.

Baleinabau says they started experiencing strong winds from 6pm Thursday and it lasted after 1am Friday.

He says they were thinking that the destructive winds will only last for about 3 to 4 hours.

Baleinabau further says some of the villagers left for the evacuation centre while others remained in the village because the restrooms and other services were further away from the evacuation centre.

He adds they were singing hymns and praying at the evacuation centre for their lives and for those at the village.

Baleinabau says they are thankful that when they returned, the villagers were safe and well.
