Vosarogo is Acting PM as PM Rabuka on official visit to Japan

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo is Acting Prime Minister as Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka is undertaking an official visit to Japan this week.

At the invitation of the Government of Japan, the visit reaffirms the warm and enduring relations between Fiji and Japan, which is founded on mutual respect, friendship, and shared values of democracy, peace, and sustainable development.

A key highlight of the visit will be the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Rabuka and the newly elected and first female Prime Minister of Japan, Her Excellency Takaichi Sanae.

Rabuka is among the first world leaders to meet with Takaichi following her successful election as Prime Minister of Japan last month.

The two leaders are expected to sign the Lomavata-Kizuna partnership joint communique, an important milestone that further reaffirms our longstanding partnership and bilateral relations.

The communique symbolises a renewed commitment by both nations to strengthen cooperation across key areas of mutual interest including climate resilience, economic development, technology, and people-to-people ties, among other important initiatives.

In addition to his official engagements, Prime Minister Rabuka will also meet with the Fijian diaspora where he is expected to update them on the nation’s development plans and progress.

Fiji and Japan have maintained close ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1970.

The Prime Minister returns on 16th November 2025.
