Vodafone M-PAiSA Mastercard to be a game changer - Taoi
Vodafone Fiji Board Chair Joe Taoi

The Vodafone Group (Fiji) has launched the M-PAiSA Mastercard which is sure to be a game changer for customers.

Vodafone Fiji Board Chair Joe Taoi says this is a significant milestone and its expected impact is seismic in transforming the financial services landscape in the country.

He says the launch of the Mastercard will truly transform M-PaiSA into an open loop globally accepted payment platform allowing users to be able to make online and overseas payments also.

Taoi adds being one of the most successful companies in the country for the last 29 years, Vodafone has delivered consistent and high returns back to FNPF and ATH Group who are shareholders for the company and ultimately to the FNPF members.

Taoi says Vodafone currently has over 580,000 registered M-PAiSA customers with more than 334,000 of these customers actively using the service every month.

Taoi says M-PaiSA now processes around 1.2 billion dollars annually in local person to person transfers, $250 million in QR payments to businesses, and $45 million in utility bills payments amongst other payments and based on the current trends, M-PAiSA is expected to process over $4 billion in transactions in 2023.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, SMEs and Communications Manoa Kamikamica says in an increasingly digital economy, technology and digitalisation are the strong points of progression.

While officiating at the launch last night, Kamikamica says digital wallets as simple as M-PAiSA genuinely have a positive influence on the Fijian economy. Kamikamica says it is particularly pleasing to note that 52 percent of M-PAiSA users are women – and it has for the first time enabled many women, particularly in rural areas to have a financial account of their own.
