Akisi Vinaka is the first woman appointed to the Board of Directors for the Fiji Sugar Corporation Board. Vinaka was appointed to the FSC board by Minister for Sugar Industry, Charan Jeath Singh, in concurrence with the Prime Minister.
She has been a cane farmer for 23 years and has worked in several districts of the Macuata Province in Vanua Levu for the last 24 years.
She emphasised the importance of building a bond between the farmers and the FCS which will help to understand the challenges.
Singh says her capabilities and experience will build a robust affiliation between the farmers, community, FSC and other sugar industry stakeholders and the Ministry.
