A 62-year-old Jean-Yves Galinie from Vanuatu has undergone a heart bypass surgery at Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH Hospitals) in Nadi.
Jean-Yves Galinie, who had previously suffered a heart attack, began experiencing chest pain several months ago. The discomfort worsened over time, and doctors discovered he had three blocked arteries.
Following medical advice from a private hospital in Vanuatu and with the support of his daughter, Jessie Galinie, they travelled to Fiji to seek treatment at PSH Hospitals.
Upon arrival, he was assessed by cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, Dr Sanjeev Khulbey, who determined surgery was required. The procedure was conducted by Dr Sanjeev Khulbey and the Cardiac team of PSH Hospitals.
‘’When I woke up, I could open my eyes and hear people talking,” Jean-Yves Galinie recalled. “Soon after, I was able to move my body. I no longer have the pain I used to feel. I am so thankful to the doctors and the PSH team,’’ said Galinie.
Cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, Dr Sanjeev Khulbey described his process of recovery as remarkable, crediting his positive outlook and willingness to follow medical advice.
“He came to us with severe blockages, his surgery went smoothly, his determination to recover made a big difference,’’ said Dr Khulbey.
