The Uprising Beach Resort will come alive with colour, music, and celebration as it hosts the Holi Festival Foam Party, bringing the vibrant Indian festival to Fiji.
The resort says the event, organized by seasoned international event organizer and property developer Darryl Tombleson, is a family-friendly festival which will feature dance competitions, a bonfire on the beach, DJ performances, live music, and an array of delicious food.
Tombleson says this Holi event is about bringing people together in a joyful, colourful celebration that embodies the spirit of unity and festivity.
He says it’s not just about fun, as they are also using this platform to support an initiative that empowers women and uplifts local communities.
Tombleson, in collaboration with Uprising Beach Resort and corporate partners FMF Foods Fiji Ltd, Blue Gas, Paradise Beverages, and Jacks of Fiji Clothing, is spearheading efforts to establish night and day markets designed to help women generate sustainable income for themselves and their villages.
He says the ability for women to become financially independent is critical to fostering strong communities.
Tombleson says they want to create an environment where women are supported in their entrepreneurial pursuits, whether through traditional crafts, food, or other business ventures.
The resort says Elaine Chandra of Justice Pacific, an advocate for women's empowerment, has also lent her support to this initiative, aligning with much of Uprising Beach Resort’s outreach work in championing women across various sectors.
They says the concept has also received encouragement from key government figures, including the Minister of Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, who acknowledged its alignment with national efforts to promote women’s empowerment in Fiji.
Uprising Beach Resort will host the Holi Festival Foam Party this Saturday.
