Unity Fiji and NFP clash over name and motto

Unity Fiji and NFP clash over name and motto
Unity Fiji Leader Savenaca Narube and NFP General Secretary Seini Nabou

Unity Fiji says some political parties have virtually copied their name and motto as they registered People First as their by-line or motto.

However National Federation Party’s General Secretary Seni Nabou says the Leader of Unity Fiji should check his facts before obviously referring to them when he says a political party started using the theme Uniting Fiji after the formation of Unity Fiji Party.

Unity Fiji says a political party chose Uniting Fiji as its motto and more recently, another had Putting People First as its motto.

Nabou stresses that Unity Fiji doesn’t have ownership of the word Unity or Uniting, and Unity Fiji is horribly wrong in claiming that NFP has copied their name and motto.

She says the NFP started using Uniting Fiji, 14 years ago from August 2008, 9 years before the formation of Unity Fiji in 2017.

She adds it was the title of NFP’s historical publication, marking 45 years of the party’s existence as Fiji’s oldest political party since 1963.

The Secretary says the theme then started appearing on the mast of NFP’s official letterhead, temporarily replaced by the election themes for 2014 and 2018.
