Team USA sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson finished first in her 100-metre Paris Olympic heats, stopping the time at 10.94 seconds.

The 24-year-old looked determined as she cruised home, leaving everyone behind.

After not making it to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after being suspended for testing positive for THC (cannabis), a banned substance under World Anti-Doping Agency rules, Richardson is determined to make a comeback this year.

Meanwhile, Marie-Josee Ta Lou Smith of Ivory Coast clocked the fastest time in the heats with 10.87 seconds.

Some prominent athletes that have also qualified for the semi finals include Daryll Neita of Great Britain (10.92 sec), Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, Audrey Leduc of Canada, Twanisha Terry of the USA, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica.

The women's 100-metre world record is held by Florence Griffith-Joyner of the USA with a time of 10.49 seconds.

The semi finals are at 5.50am Sunday, and the final is at 7.20am Sunday.

The Olympics men’s 100-metres race will start off with the preliminary round at 8.35 tonight, followed by Round 1 at 9.55pm tonight. The semi finals will be at 6.05am Monday and the final at 7.50am on the same day.
