Two communities in the Serua Province are expected to benefit from the Memorandum of Understanding between Leadership Fiji and the Uto ni Yalo Trust Stewardship Program.

The MOU sees Leadership Fiji give a community grant of $10,000 to Uto ni Yalo Trust Stewardship Program.

While receiving the grant, Uto ni Yalo Trust President, Teddy Fong says they are extremely grateful to Leadership Fiji Community Fund for selecting their organization and providing this seed funding that will benefit two communities.

Fong says the project is unique and they are working to revive and protect their traditional sailing culture from total loss.

Leadership Fiji Community Fund Chair, Rajesh Patel says he is delighted to support the environmentally friendly project and hopes that it will empower rural and coastal communities to be self-sufficient and appreciate the sustainability of traditional sea transportation.

The Leadership Fiji Community Fund was set up to receive and manage funding from organizations, donors, aid funds, past Leadership Fiji groups and individuals to enable life-changing community developments by making a positive social impact for Fijian communities.

Leadership Fiji Community Fund has supported 17 community projects with just over $90k funds disbursed since 2020.
