The safety of our future leaders and the handover of these road safety kits to schools is not just a corporate responsibility but a personal one as well as a mother.
TotalEnergies Marketing (Fiji) Pte Ltd Managing Director Bhavana Samel stated this while handing the kits over to the LTA saying that when she drops her children at school she would always see students standing on the side of the road in the sun or rain putting up these signs and ensuring that the traffic is moving slow and ensuring the safety of other students.
She says it is all our responsibility to ensure that we respect the road safety guidelines and also respect these signs.
LTA Manager Road Safety Education Watilala Fonu says once they distribute the items to the schools, they also liaise with the heads of school to allow them to provide professional developments for their teachers, so that they are also aware of how to use these items.
Fonu says the 10 sets that they have received from TotalEnergies Fiji, will go not only to schools in the urban areas, but also in the rural areas.
The kits included high visibility vests, cones, slow down and stop signs amongst other things.
