Tikoduadua assures safety of Fijian troops as Iran-Israel tensions escalate

Fiji to withdraw troops if UN pulls peacekeepers out

Tikoduadua assures safety of Fijian troops as Iran-Israel tensions escalate
Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua

As tension escalates between Iran and Israel, Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua has assured everyone that all our troops stationed at Golan Heights and the Middle East are safe.

Tikoduadua says he is in constant contact with the RFMF Commander, and if the situation escalates, he will inform the nation.

Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles towards Israel on Sunday, and most of them were intercepted by Israel and its allies.

Reports state that there were a small number of hits on Israel’s territory, including at an Israel Defense Forces base in southern Israel, while one person was injured.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says if the United Nations pulls out all the peacekeepers, then Fiji will pull out its troops.

He says Fiji stands by the principle of sovereignty and its right to defend sovereignty.

Rabuka adds Fiji has always spoken out on the right of nations and the government to defend itself.
