Thousands of people living in elevated parts of Ba have been facing low pressure to no water following flooding on Sunday.
According to the Water Authority of Fiji, this is due to low water levels currently being experienced at the Waiwai Water Treatment Clear Water Reservoir and other service reservoirs in the Ba Supply Zone.
There has been low raw water inflow caused by the flooding on Sunday.
WAF says the flooding downstream of the Waiwai Water Treatment Plant has also caused damages to two water mains along the Maururu Creek and Talaiya Creek.
Areas affected include upper Tauvegavega, Vutuni, Varoko Top, Savara, Navau, Etatoko, Khalsa, Vatayaka, Varavu, Varadoli, Talaiya, Moto, Vunivaivai, Tabataba, Chinakoti, Kum and Naruku as well Maururu Village.
Pranil Sharma who lives in Moto says they are currently buying drinking water because they are worried about the rain water being contaminated following the volcanic eruption in Tonga.
He also says there has been no water carting in his area.
Sharma says he still considers himself lucky because he can afford to buy drinking water but he knows many residents are really frustrated.
WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg says full restoration in Ba is expected by Thursday.
Soderberg says they have around four water carting trucks serving the affected elevated areas in Ba.
He has stressed that if there is a need, they will bring in more water carting trucks.
They are saying to call 5777 if you want a water carting truck to come to your area.
