Thousands of Fijians living along the Suva Nausori corridor continue to face intermittent water supply to no supply at all.

The Water Authority of Fiji is progressively restoring water in areas that were affected by the planned Waila Water Treatment Plant shut down last night.

We have received calls and messages from concerned Fijians that they still do not have water.

Some residents raised concerns that when they call for water carting trucks, the WAF number that is given does not go through while some say that water carting trucks have not visited them after calling three or four times.

WAF Chief Operating Officer Seru Soderberg says the reservoir is not at the desired levels yet but they are progressively restoring water in areas that were affected.

No time frame has been given when water will be fully restored.

Meanwhile, WAF says the Waila Water Treatment Plant is back online and production is commencing.

They say the shutdown was critical as the old transformers were over 30-years and past their design life.

They also say during the 3-hour shutdown, WAF also used the opportunity to perform urgent maintenance work to the leakage at the Waila raw water pumping station simultaneously.
