There is no such policy or standard operating procedure in the Fiji Police Force that the police do not do anything in 24 hours when a person is reported missing.

This was highlighted by the Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho during a press conference when he was asked that the police were not doing anything until after 24 hours when a person goes missing.

He says when a person goes missing, the first thing that happens is that the information is shared with all the police stations in Fiji, and depending on the information that comes through, it is quickly analysed and work starts from when it is reported.
