Parliament has passed the Fiji Development Bank Bill which results in the removal of the words ‘servant’ and ‘servants’ from the FDB Act 1966, and replaced by the words ‘employee’ and ‘employees’.
Opposition Leader, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu says it may sound trivial to change the word servants to employees.
Lalabalavu says the way it was presented, was like the word was taken from the colonial past.
In response, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says it’s really quite amusing what the Leader of Opposition is saying.
He says staff of FDB are not servants but employees.
