Tewa sets sight on improving personal best in Palau Mini Games

Tewa sets sight on improving personal best in Palau Mini Games
Team Fiji athlete Waisake Tewa

Team Fiji athlete Waisake Tewa has set his sight on improving his time and winning medals at the upcoming Palau Mini Games that starts at the end of this month.

The 21-year-old has participated in major events, having recently competed at the 2023 Pacific Games, 2024 Oceania Championship and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France to name a few.

And eventhough he is fairly new to the Athletics scene, Tewa is considered a senior athlete on the team because of his maturity and experience.

The former Sila Central High School sprinter took a break from the sport to try out rugby, and now finds himself back on the tracks for another shot at national duties.

Tewa says his target is to improve his time, and win medals in the 100m and 200m events.

He says Fiji usually win medals in the 4x400m and 4x100m events, but he wants to change that, so he is aiming for a personal best and a medal.

Tewa will be leading the Fiji sprint charge in Palau as they look to challenge PNG's dominance.
