Tevita Raisuqe remembers son Josaia Raisuqe’s humble beginnings as tributes pour in

Sobbing in tears Tevita Raisuqe, the father of the late former Fiji 7s Olympic silver medalist and Top 14 France base Castres winger Josaia Raisuqe recalls his son selling a few dalo he planted to buy his pair of first rugby boots.

Tevita says his son is the second youngest of five siblings and was a hard working, humble boy.

Also known as Josaia Wini, Raisuqe hails from Lutu Naitasiri.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Tevita says his son knew the hardships they endured at home and helped the family with all their needs, and he never forgot his humble beginnings in the village.

He says he helped out in the village obligations and also helped other villagers that needed help.

He wept and said he will surely be missed.

Former Fiji 7s Rio Olympic gold medal winning coach Ben Ryan says Raisuqe was full of energy, laughter and was a talented rugby player.

Ryan says it was such a sad news to hear the sudden death of Raisuqe.

The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Club also send their condolences messages to the family and observed a minute of silence before their game against the Blues last night.

According to the family, they are still arranging funeral details.
