Jonasa Ratuagone, a school teacher by profession, is encouraging people to practice organic farming in order to live healthier lives.
Ratuagone, who was awarded the Climate Smart Agriculture of the Year at the National Agriculture Show 2024, says as we face the deterioration of soil fertility, we need to be mindful of the man-made products used to fertilize the soil.
He says he considers himself more of a farmer than a teacher, as he devotes most of his time to farming.
The Drasa College teacher says his family does not use any chemicals on their farm, such as weedicides or insecticides; instead, they practice purely organic farming.
Ratuagone is urging everyone to go organic and consume what they grow to stay healthy.
He adds in the next five years, they hope to expand their farm.
