Water supply disruptions affecting customers from the Tamavua water treatment plant have persisted since Friday due to elevated turbidity levels in the Waimanu River caused by rainfall in the catchment.
This has been highlighted by the Water Authority of Fiji who says this has led to increased sludge buildup, impacting the gearbox of one of the two clarifiers and delaying efforts to restore water production to normal levels.
They say their technical team is working around the clock to resolve the issue and they apologize to those without water since yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Chief Operating Officer of WAF Seru Soderberg thanked the community for their patience and understanding during this time.
