The iTaukei Land Trust Board says they will take necessary steps to deal with the alleged unauthorized issuance of an agricultural lease in Tau village, Nadroga.
The issue came to light after the release of a video series called Tagi Ni Vanua by the People’s Alliance Party.
In one of the videos, Tau village landowner, Sokonaia Rogose says he found out that his land was being leased by someone from overseas when he went to the site to try and divide the land for his four sons.
Rogose adds that when he contacted the TLTB, they said he is right and they will investigate this issue however he says they have yet to come back to him about it.
The Tau villager stresses he did not approve or sign any agreement of their land to be leased and he was caught off guard to see the fence and land marks on their land.
TLTB has now said that it has investigated the matter and is taking the necessary steps to deal with the lease in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile the TLTB is encouraging members of the public to raise concerns relating to their leases and iTaukei land with TLTB and to contact them at any of its offices.
