Suva ends Nadi's winning streak in Skipper Cup with an 18-16 win at home

The Suva Rugby Union side ended Skipper Cup defending champion Jacks Nadi's unbeaten run in the competition after a close 18-16 win in their Skipper Cup Competition round 3 clash yesterday.

Suva with the services of some experienced players like former Swire Shipping Fijian Drua captain Nemani Nagusa and season campaigners like Enele Malele, Inia Tawalo and John Stewart together with some current and former national reps like Terio Tamani, Tira Wilagi and Livai Ikanikoda, the Capital City side put their body on the line to defend their home turf.

Nadi also had some experienced players in their squad with the likes of Vatemo Ravouvou and Semi Kunatani but they could not help the side as Suva capitalised on Nadi’s blunders.

With the backing of vocal supporters, Suva came from behind to claim the win after being down 8-3 at halftime.

It was also a sweet victory for the side as they avenged their heartbreaking loss to Nadi in the Skipper Cup semi finals last year.

In another Skipper Cup match that was played yesterday, Naitasiri overcame Namosi 24-22.
