The Suva Retailers Association is happy that most of the businesses have closed to ensure people do not come to Suva City during this containment period while the President, Jitesh Patel says it is a wait and see situation how long businesses will remain closed to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Patel says the immediate concern regarding staff has been addressed to ensure they continue to get paid either through leave pay or the FNPF assistance.

He says the business houses may also have to discuss with their landlords and banks if they seriously get affected.

Patel says most of the people who were lining up outside Totogo earlier this week to get border passes did not really need them. He says the focus should remain on containing the virus and not moving around unnecessarily.
