The Transport Assistance to students will remain at a combined household income of $16,000, and this threshold will be reviewed.

This was stated by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka after a decision was taken by Cabinet.

The Prime Minister says the threshold has been progressively increasing, and there was a big increase a couple of years ago.

Rabuka says it was not verified as to why there was a sudden jump.

The Prime Minister also says the combined household income eligibility criteria for the programme was increased from $15,000 to $15,600 in 2015 and to $16,000 in 2019.
