Students reminded of their role in fighting societal challenges such as drugs
National Substance Abuse Advisory Council’s Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor Vilisimani Rakikau

Students of Kalabu Primary School and CMF Primary School have been reminded of their rights as children and their responsibilities, emphasizing that they should not assume everything will be done for them by their family members.

While speaking during the Central Division Drug-Free Awareness Campaign, National Substance Abuse Advisory Council’s Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor, Vilisimani Rakikau says all rights come with corresponding responsibilities.

Rakikau says children’s responsibilities include listening to their parents and following instructions given at home.

He also highlighted a concerning trend where more crimes are now being reported in villages compared to the usual red zones traditionally identified as drug hotspots.

The counselor urged everyone to work together with individuals, communities, schools, and the government to combat the issue of drugs in society.

Rakikau also reminded students that as the festive season approaches, they should be mindful of their decision-making.
