Students intending to become teachers need to undergo interviews with MOE : TSLS CEO
Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service CEO Hasmukh Lal

Students intending to become teachers, now need to undergo interviews with the Ministry of Education.

This was highlighted by Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service CEO Hasmukh Lal who says the Ministry of Education will now independently conduct interviews to assess and select students for teacher training scholarships.

Lal that TSLS will only provide scholarships to those who pass these interviews and are approved by the Ministry.

He says the Ministry has already received the list of students meeting the academic criteria and interviews are scheduled to begin next week.

He further says the process will also guide students toward programs addressing workforce needs.

The CEO says students currently pursue impractical combinations, like Chemistry and Management, which do not align with the school system and limit employability.

He says through these interviews, students will be directed toward areas like primary education and STEM, where demand for teachers is high.

He further adds that this change will help ensure that the education sector receives well-trained graduates suited to workforce needs.
