Lawyers representing the State, the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and the Attorney General of Fiji have been given six weeks to prepare and file their response in the constitutional redress case filed by the Fijian Teachers Association.
This case was called before Chief Justice Kamal Kumar this morning.
FTA made an application for constitutional redress after more than 200 teachers lost their jobs for not getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
The State, the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and the Attorney General of Fiji are represented by David Solvalu and Nazia Ali of the Attorney General’s chambers.
Simione Valenitabua is representing the Fijian Teachers Association.
Under the OHS Regulations announced by the Prime Minister in July this year, workers cannot enter the workplace if they have not received the first dose of the vaccine by 1st August.
