Hard work has paid off for 18-year-old Shivani Shankar, who took home the Saint Francis College Dux Award.

Shankar, who is from Nailawa, Saivou in Ra, says becoming the Dux is a moment of great pride, reflecting years of determination, discipline, and the guidance of many wonderful people in her life.

She also had the privilege of serving as Head Girl this year, a role she says strengthened her leadership skills and taught her the value of responsibility and service.

Shankar says last year’s external examinations were challenging but taught her the importance of consistent study and effective organisation.

She created her own study routine, revised daily, and ensured she fully understood each topic, adding that the experience showed her that success comes through steady effort and perseverance.

Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue further studies in mathematics and computer science, subjects that excite her because they combine logic, creativity and problem-solving.

She aspires to contribute to Fiji’s development through these fields in the future.

Shankar acknowledged her parents and family for their endless support, her teachers for their guidance and belief in her, and her friends and classmates for their encouragement.

She also thanked God for giving her the strength and courage to keep going, saying she hopes her journey inspires younger students to stay focused, work hard and believe in their dreams.

She says with dedication and support, anything is possible.

Meanwhile, Paula Navukula received the Principal’s Award.

Navukula says receiving the award is a moment he will never forget.

He says he has always carried his family and community in his heart, and standing on stage made him feel proud, humbled and grateful.

He believes he was chosen because he remained committed—whether to his studies, helping classmates or giving his best in everything he did.

Navukula says the award is not just his, but belongs to everyone who supported him along the way.
