The youths of Serua Village in Serua are now working together for the Serua mangrove rehabilitation to fight against rising sea levels and climate change which they are now experiencing.

While speaking to fijivillage News, representatives from the Serua Village Methodist Youth Fellowship, Taitusi Dradra says this is their first project and more to come in which it requires collaboration from the community to control the impact of climate change and maintain the beauty of their island home.

Dradra says youths of his village are taking the lead in the mangrove initiatives because they are the future of tomorrow.

He says they want to protect their identity because relocation for them is nothing compared to living on the island.

Dradra says they are looking for a nature-based solution to keep their island from storm surges, hurricanes, and rising sea levels.

He adds they plan to continue with making a nursery and also coming up with some other new designs.

Meanwhile, more than 50 people are part of the mangroves rehabilitation on Saturday.
