SPCA calls for public support ahead of annual Thousand Paw Walk

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is urging public support for its biggest annual fundraising event, the Annual Tim Howick-Smith Thousand Paw Walk, with the theme Walk for the Paws.

Scheduled for November 9 at Albert Park in Suva, the event is SPCA’s primary source of non-governmental funding, with proceeds going directly toward the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of vulnerable street animals.

SPCA says every dollar raised goes directly into rescue missions, rehabilitation through medication and daily checks, hygiene, nutritious food, and the safe shelter necessary for an animal to recover.

They say with limited funds and growing demand, the centre is flooded daily with rescue missions and needs continued community support to sustain its operations.

Following last year’s success, this year’s event promises to return bigger and better, featuring a variety of funky and fun pet show categories and surprise visits throughout the day.

Registration is $30 per pet, which includes a goody bag and free entry into 2 of 7 categories of the pet show.
