The Seventh Day Adventist Church is working with the Fiji Corrections Service to work on strategies to combat crime and reduce the number of re-offenders.
Director Rehabilitation Salote Panapasa says they are working with SDA churches in implementing the program - Community Action for the Rehabilitation of Ex-Offenders.
She says working with communities is sometimes beyond their control thus they have included the churches.
Panapasa says churches cover all areas within their area of responsibility.
She adds different churches have different beliefs and churches sometimes have strategies that the Fiji Corrections Service does not have.
Suva Adventist Church Corrections Ministry Coordinator Sefanaia Turava says from the church perspective this is a spiritual problem.
Turuva says they also have programs in place to help solve this on-going issue.
The Fiji Corrections service says 314 inmates belong to the Seventh Day Adventist Denomination.
