SDA Church carrying out 10,000 toes awareness campaign in their fight against diabetes

The Health Coordinator of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lautoka, Doctor Mere Tiko says they are carrying out 10,000 toes awareness campaign to help people identify the effect of diabetes and other non-communicable diseases in their life.

Doctor Tiko who is also the Wellness Diabetes Coordinator for the Ministry of Health says diabetes is a lifestyle disease and patients need to go for normal checkups to ensure their condition does not lead to other health problems.

SDA Church in partnership with the Ministry of Health is providing free health check-ups in Lautoka City today.

Tiko says they will also be providing free breakfast to those that attend the campaign.

The 10,000 toes campaign aims to equip local churches in the South Pacific with the tools and skills needed to conduct health assessments for members and their community for the early detection of diabetes and other chronic diseases.
