SCC resolves green waste collection delays in Cunnigham Stage 2

SCC to implement strict measures to combat illegal dumping

SCC resolves green waste collection delays in Cunnigham Stage 2

The Suva City Council has addressed concerns raised by residents of Biau Drive in Cunningham Stage 2 regarding delays in green waste collection in their area over the past few months.

Residents told fijivillage News that some rubbish is nearly blocking the main driveway along the main road, posing safety hazards and inconveniences for both motorists and pedestrians.

One resident said they were tired of waiting and the waste not only looks bad, but it also attracts pests and has created a health risk for their families which is unacceptable.

SCC Acting CEO Tevita Boseiwaqa has assured the public that the issue has been resolved, with collection completed.

Boseiwaqa says the Council is also implementing strict measures to combat illegal dumping of rubbish.

He adds that the Council remains committed to tackling illegal dumping and will enforce penalties on those engaging in such behaviour.

The Acting CEO highlights that unauthorized rubbish dumping not only affects the community's appearance but also poses significant health and environmental risks.

Boseiwaqa has also reminded residents that green waste collections are conducted monthly, while white goods collections occur quarterly.
