Residents of Nukubuco Settlement have had no water for 1 week now

WAF says high turbidity levels causing reduction in water production capacity

Residents of Nukubuco Settlement have had no water for 1 week now

Residents of Nukubuco Settlement, along Khalsa Rd are pleading with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to help them as they have not had water in their taps for one week now.

Concerned resident, Wasim Khan says they are spending most of their money on buying bottled water for drinking and to cook their food.

Khan says they cannot do this all the time as bottled water costs a lot.

He says they have to go to their families place to bath and collect water for cooking.

The Nokoboco resident says children are facing issues as they have to use the school convenience every morning when they reach school.

He further says they have requested for water carting to their areas but it is not sufficient for the families living in the community.

The Water Authority of Fiji on Friday said that due to high turbidity levels in the Waimanu River, the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant has experienced significant reduction in water production capacity during this week.

They say this has resulted in water supply disruptions and rationing measures in the elevated areas of Upper Khalsa and others elevated areas supplied by the Tamavua system.
