Residents in Waqadra in Nadi say they do not know what to expect in the next couple of hours because of high tide.
Flood waters have started to recede in parts of Nadi.
Avneel Abhisay says he saw floodwaters rise quickly when the Nadi River burst its banks.
He adds rain has eased since last night but they are still experiencing strong winds.
