Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has reminded all parents and guardians to redeem their children's E-transport cards well in advance of the start of the school year and to refrain from abusing its use before school commences.
He says, when school starts on February 6th, the cards should be ready for usage.
The Minister also acknowledged the representatives of the Land Transport Authority and the Fiji Bus Operators Association who met with the Senior Officials from the Ministry of Education to discuss transportation issues in view of the upcoming commencement of school.
The meeting was led by the Acting Permanent Secretary Timoci Bure while the FBOA was represented by their General Secretary, Rohit Latchan and his colleagues and LTA was represented by the Senior Management team.
Bure says the meeting was fruitful and he is glad to mention that both the authorities have assured their support to the Ministry in ensuring that transportation is in order when school resumes for 2023.
He says all three parties reflected on some of the issues faced last year and discussed some possible solutions around it and it was also agreed that there shall be more regular meetings between the parties so that transport services to students is maintained without any hindrance.
He thanked FBOA and LTA for attending the meeting and for always assisting the Ministry regarding transportation issues.
