73-year-old farmer, Dharma Reddy, from Wailevu, Labasa, is devastated after his prized bull, valued at $4,000 was stolen and slaughtered.

The loss of the bull, which played a vital role in his farming life, has left him heartbroken and struggling, as he calls for justice in the hope that the authorities will take action.

In an interview with fijivillage News, Reddy says his farm is about two and a half miles from his home, where he worked with the bull every day.

He says he had raised it with great care and it was an essential part of his sugarcane farming.

Reddy says when he visited the farm on Saturday morning, he first thought the remains were that of a goat, but quickly realized it was his bull.

He says he reported the theft to the police at the Labasa Station, but he felt his concerns were not taken seriously.

He says the police did not ask enough questions, and despite his efforts, the thief has not been caught.

The 73-year-old says he cried when he found the meat in a sack and is urging the government for assistance .

He says the bull was not just an animal but his main tool for farming and his source of livelihood and at 73 years, he feels helpless and hopes the authorities will take urgent action to help him rebuild his life.
