The Vunivalu na Tui Kaba Ratu Epenisa Cakobau

Ratu Epenisa Cakobau has been installed as the Vunivalu Tui Kaba.

The installation service for the Turaga Na Vunivalu, Tui Kaba, was done by President of the Methodist Church of Fiji Reverend Ili Vunisuwai.

After the church service, Ratu Epenisa was escorted to Mataweilagi by the warriors of the Gonesau, known as the Vuakaloa, to change into his traditional attire.

The Kava Drinking Ceremony has been accorded to Ratu Epenisa.

Meanwhile, Ratu Epenisa acknowleded the people of Bau for their support, especially, his spokesman, Aisea Jack Komaitai, for his 33-years of service.

While speaking after the church service, Ratu Epenisa also acknowledged the presence of the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and the cabinet ministers, friends and family who have supported him.

Ratu Epenisa has called on the people for their support and prayers as he undertakes the role of the Vunivalu.

While speaking after the church service, Ratu Epenisa also acknowledged the presence of the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and the cabinet ministers, friends and family who have supported him.

Ratu Epenisa has called on the people for their support and prayers as he undertakes the role of the Vunivalu.

The traditional ceremonies for the installation of the Vunivalu Na Tui Kaba is about to start.

The yaqona and tabua presentation will follow and there will be traditional dances.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has arrived on the chiefly island of Bau to witness the installation of Ratu Epenisa Cakobau as the Vunivalu Na Tui Kaba.

Accompanying the Prime Minister are the Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua, the Minister for iTaukei Affairs Ifereimi Vasu, former Assistant Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu and the government delegation.

The installation began with a church service at 10am.

Following the service, the traditional ceremonies pertaining to the installation will be held.

The yaqona and tabua presentation will follow and there will be traditional dances.

People arriving at the chiefly island of Bau to witness the installation of Ratu Epenisa Cakobau as the Vunivalu Na Tui Kaba

People are starting to arrive at the chiefly island of Bau to witness the installation of Ratu Epenisa Cakobau as the Vunivalu Na Tui Kaba.

More than 1,000 people are expected to be part this historic event.

All preparations are ready.

The installation will begin with a church service at 10am on Bau Island tomorrow which will see Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and his family being prayed over and dedicated to the Lord by senior ministers of the Methodist Church.

Following the service, the traditional ceremonies pertaining to the installation will be held.

The yaqona and tabua presentation will follow and there will be traditional dances. Stay with us for updates.
