Two penalty kicks from fullback Thomas Ramos at extra time was enough to give Toulouse their third consecutive French Top 14 title after defeating Bordeaux 39-33 in the grand final this morning.
The match ended with both teams locked at 33-all after an intense 80 minutes of rugby displayed by the two sides.
Ramos was on par with his kicking boots, kicking a total of 24 points in the match.
Toulouse held a 20-16 lead at the break, through 2 penalty kicks from Ramos and converted tries each to Anthony Jelonch and Jack Willis, while Bordeaux’s Maxime Lucu kicked 3 penalty kicks and a converted try to winger Damian Penaud.
Matthieu Jalibert put Bordeaux ahead early in the second half with a converted try giving them a 23-20 lead.
Willis scored his second converted try for Toulouse to regain the lead for his team before Ramos extended the defending champions’ lead to 33-23 with two penalty kicks.
Bordeaux came back stronger in the last 10 minutes to level the score at 33-all before full time through a converted try to Guido Petti and a penalty kick to Lucu.
Ramos stole the win for Toulouse with 2 penalty kicks in the 94th and 99th minute.
