Following the heavy rain and flooding in the Central Division this morning, flood water has started to recede in Navua and rain has halted.
Navua resident and Justice of Peace, Kamal Narayan told fijivillage News, that the tide is starting to go down as well.
Narayan says the most affected areas were the flat areas around Navua as there were blockages in some culverts that caused flooding.
He says he will be moving around the Navua areas later today to survey areas that were badly affected and will submit his findings to stakeholders.
Parts of Wainadoi, Navua and Pacific Harbour including Rampur Road, Waidradra, Nakaulevu, Vakabalea, Calia Back Road, Raiwaqa Road, Wainividio, Tokotoko Back Road and Waikasanaura were flooded due to continuous heavy rain from last night.
The Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure lies over the eastern parts of the Fiji group which will bring occasional showers and a few thunderstorms over the Navua -Suva-Nausori-Tailevu areas, Serua-Namosi-Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki areas, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, southern Bua and Cakaudrove provinces, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
